Looking back at our piliminary task I think I have learnt alot. Our camera work has got alot better and we have looked at different ways of filming things. We used our piliminary task to help us and give us isdeas of what we should use in our opening sequence. We used 180 degree rule and after understanding what it meant and how to not break the rules. We succesfully managed to use it in our opening sequence.
Overall I am really pleased with our opening sequence. You can see we have learnt alot and I am really proud of what we have achieved. It took some hard work to get it all finished and to understand how to use some of the software.

Q6.What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
During our opening sequence I learnt to understand and work many different and new technologies...
We used iMovie to create our opening sequence. It took a while to get used to it completely. It was hard to work out how to use it to it's full abilities but from the basics we managed to complete our opening sequence.
We used iTunes to play our music off and find the right music. We also had the help of Youtube. We also used iTunes to import the music after we had created it on Garage Band.
We used YouTube to find the un-copyrighted music. It was also used for inspration for the music we were going to add to our own film.
1 - MAC - We used the MAC to upload and edit our movie. We also used it to design our own music and record voices. It was also used for a lot of our research on the Internet.
2 - TRIPOD - We used the tripod in almost every shot in our opening sequence. We used it to maintain perfect height and to steady the camera whilst filming.
3 - CAMERA - We learnt how to record and play back our shots. Once we were convinced we had shot what we needed we plugged the camera with our tape inside into the MAC and downloaded our recordings.
Garage Band. We used Garage Band to create our own music to put into our opening sequence. Admitdly we didn't all fully understand how to use it so only a few members in the group created the music and it was very succesful.
Google helped us alot with finding un-copyrighted music and we also used it to help us understand full how to use iMovie and Garage Band. It helped us alot with our research. We searched horror movies like our own and it was a real help.

Q5. How did you attract/address your audience?
As our opening sequence starts our credits immediatly start rolling aswell. There are various ways of how we show the credits. Our target audience is 15-25 and we based our film on typical things that 15-25 year olds would do. Such as smoking, applying make up, going out to partys and sorting your hair out. They are typical things that teenagers would do and we used those types of things because we wanted to engage our target audience.
Our films are similar to films such as The House Of Wax and Saw because they all use the same type of music such as upbeat and then dark and eary. After our survery we thought we should use some sort of technique of getting the audience involved with the film and feel part of it.

Q4.Who would be the audience for your media product?
Our target audience is teenagers and up. This is because teenagers are more likely to go to the cinema and spend the money. They are also most likely to want to get the thrill from horror movies. Tim is our target audience (the person in the middle). He loves to spend time with his mates and hates being bored. He spends a lot of his time out of the house either in town or at one of his friends houses. his favourite Tv show is The Inbetweeners and Waking The Dead. Tim loves watching Waking The Dead because it's different from normal programmes based at the teenager crowd. However he also loves the thrill from Waking The Dead as some times it can be unexpected. Tim loves watching the Inbetweeners because he feels he can relate to it because he is a teenager and finds it amusing.
Tim goes to the cinema on a regular basis and has an Odeon card. He comments on how his favourite genre to go watch is Thriller or Horror. This is because although some films have the same story line, or similar. The thrill is always different.
Tim would go see our film because he likes Thriller and Horror films and our film has aspects of both of those genres. He loves getting a thrill when he watches films that really get his adrenaline rushing.
We put a 15 certificate onto our film because in the opening sequence our film has blood, gore and murder present. As the movie would continue there would be more gore, blood and violence present and therefore we felt an age 15 certificate was appropriate.
Q3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
Our film is a low budget film and so wouldn't be in well known cinmas like Vue or Odeon. Mainly horror films are very popular especially around halloween but all year round aswell. Most movie goers get the thrill whilst watching these movie genres. Horror films are highly loved as Sky have their own movie channel dedicated to this genre. Sky movies Sci Fi and Horror. The Silence of the lams and the Paranormal activities have been shown on this channel.
Our film would be shown in a small towns cinema because it is low budget. At the moment, it's christmas time and most of the films out are family friendly films such as Arthurs Christmas, Happy Feet 2 and Puss In Boots. Currently the only horror film being played in The Thing

Q2. How does your media products represent particular social groups?
I have compared Romans character to a character from Saw. They have both been through alot of trauma and seen alot of things they wish they hadn't. The character from Saw is covered in blood and fighting for survival through some grusome trials. Romans character is slightly different because when he is found he is already dead and this makes the audience thin that something has happened to him for him to be there and to be dead. The clothes covered in blood suggest that something has, this is a similarity in comparason to the man from Saw. They are both wearing a white top and blue jeans in the film. The location that they are both set in seems to be a warehouse of some sort where most traumatic horror films seem to be set. In the background of both films there are tiled walls and blood smered across them. The characters are different in one main way, thats the fact that roman is dead that the character from Saw is alive.

Q.1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

1. The title of the film:
Our title is similar to 'The Omen' and 'Psycho' because they are straight to the point they also describe whats going to happen and the genre.
2. Setting/Location:
During our opening sequence we used 2 locations, our first is the place the characters were most comfortable in and second was a warehouse that none of the characters knew or felt comfortable with. Our location of the warehouse was picked because it's a typical scene for a horror film. It's a cold dark place with no emotion but fear. We used this because other films such as Saw have a warehouse and they portray fear very well.
3.Props/Costume
We used this frame because in other horror films, most villians are in dark colours and hidden like in Saw and Scream. This mainly helps to identify that this is a horror film. It has an impact on the audience because it makes this mysterious and they want to know who the villian is.
4.Camera work and editing.
We used a lot of shots whilst filming including close ups and extrene close ups whilst introducing the characters and also in the warehouse we have close ups of their faces again. We also had establishing shots of when they wake up in the warehouse. Sound effects such as a coin being dropped was placed on top when Molly and Bart wake up. This was put on using iMovie. We also had a sound effect of an upbeat song that started at the beginning of the opening sequence that was to make it look like they were getting ready to go out for a night on the town. The music faded out into an eary noise to differentiate from them being happy to them being in a warehouse unconscious and not knowing were they where. We used this because in many horror films they use dark and eary music to make the audience in suspense and make them feel uncomfortable.
5. Title font and style.
Our title has a simple black background with red writing. This has been taken from the idea yet again from films such as Saw and Scream. They have very bold one block colour title and the font is very manly. We chose a darker red that has the similar colour to blood as apposed to a bright red which wouldn't have the same affect. Originally we would have liked to have blood dripping from the writing to make it more Gorey but unfortunately with the software we were using we were unable to achieve this.
6. Story and how the opening sets it up
This frame helps show how the opening sequence sets up the story. We do this by giving the audience false hope that something good is going to happen as they are going out for the night. In frame 6 you see Molly getting ready for a party and upbeat music is played whilst this happens this gives off a positive vibe and the audience wont suspect whats going to happen next.
7.Genre and how the opening suggests it
Our opening sequence genre is horror. There are many clips that suggests this. Frame 7 suggests this because there is blood and gore and it's obvious they are in a warehouse. We also have the glance of the man in the hooded jumper which is also found in horror films. Our opening sequence goes from happy and upbeat to really Gorey and dark music. This also happens in horror films as it leads up to the main event. The image shows a graphic way of one of the characters, Roman, being brutally murdered. In many horror films, it shows scenes of characters being murdered or being found dead. and this is what we have captured in our opening sequence.
8.How characters were introduced
All characters are introduced individually and each in a differentiate unique way. For instance, Molly is introduced with her name on her back, Bart with his name written on a Rizla rolling paper Roman with his name written on a piece of acrylic. However being the director my name was written in a title and not on anyone or anything. Frame 8 shows how Molly was introduced into the film.
9. Frame 9 shows how we used the special effects. We used slow motion during our opening because it is usually shown in many horror films to suggest something is significant. We decided to use slow motion on this clip because smoking can cause death and our film is about people being kidnapped and one dying.
